Studying in Australia
information for budget travel visitors studying while doing backpacker jobs After the UK and the USA, Australia has more overseas students than any other English speaking country - and many of these are in Brisbane, Queensland.

If you would like to study here, the Australian government website http://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/ has a lot of information about requirements, programs, fees and other things you will need to know.

Universities follow government regulated standards of qualifications, which means that degrees from Australian institutions have international recognition of the education level it represents. You can use your qualification internationally, or you can decide to study at a different university to complete your education knowing that the work you have done will be recognised.

Students applying to enter undergraduate courses will need to show that they have achieved the equivalent of an Australian Senior School Certificate, and some courses also have pre-requisite subjects.

First research the course you are interested in - most universities have a lot of information available online - and then contact the international student admissions office and request an application pack.

When you decide on a course, complete the application form and and submit all necessary documents - some universities offer on-line registration via their internet site.

Assessment of applications can take up to a month - if the university decides to offer you a place in their course, they will send you a letter of offer with information about fees and enrolment. If you decide to accept this offer, then write to the university accepting their offer and pay the fees.

When the offer has been accepted the university will send a letter confirming your enrolment.

This official confirmation of enrolment is then required to apply for a student visa to Australia.
